We took this project from concept to store shelf, developing the logo, the color palette, copy writing, and the packaging for this awesome line of tasty snack foods.
We once saw a woman dress up as a bag of Skinny Pop for halloween. That's cultural reach.
Charged with designing the logo and subsequent packaging (both bottle and shipping carton), for a new line of infused tequila, we took inspiration from Indian mandalas and henna patterns.

Inspired by the quiet, coastal town of Cancale, this French-ish restaurant by One Off Hospitality features a dedicated raw bar, fresh seafood, French-coastal wines, and a spirits program inspired by 1920s cocktail culture. Set in the center of Chicago’s Wicker Park Neighborhood, Café Cancale’s branding seeks to balance the timeless French brasserie aesthetics with the coastal ease of its namesake.
Avec opened it's doors in 2003. Nearly 15 years after the fact, we still love it's minimal branding and commitment to quality.
This identity system awarded us a nod from the James Beard Foundation for Outstanding Restaurant Graphics, twice!
Yes, we designed the logo for Millennium Park, Chicago's crown jewel. Based on its success, we were asked to re-design the exterior way-finding within the park, and then an app that has been downloaded many thousands of times.

The design work we created for this Chicago-based restaurant has been twice-nominated for a James Beard Award in the category of Outstanding Graphic Design. Located in Chicago's Fulton Market, the brand now has a sister restaurant at O'Hare airport for which we spun off related graphics, and has recently opened a third location, Publican Anker, in Chicago's Wicker Park.
We worked closely with the owners of the restaurant and the architect to capture the updated beer hall vibe. Our work graces the menus, the linen napkins, as well as the art on the walls.
We also created a hardbound book of poetry inspired by the menu, "Here's to the Publican."
Located in Chicago's Gold Coast, NICO is another of our outstanding restaurant clients for which we have been instrumental in shaping.
Enlisted from the conceptual beginning, we helped conceive the name of the restaurant, the names of the private dining rooms, and of course the logo, the menus (all twelve of them!), and the exterior signage.
The branding for Eleven City Diner looks like it was done 70 years ago. That sort of timelessness doesn't come easy, but we have a client, Brad Rubin, that LOVES design and appreciates typography like few that we've known.
They are in the process of opening a Los Angeles branch, so our work will travel!
Located in New Orleans, the Pontchartrain is one of our rare out-of-town projects. The logo and related visuals were inspired by the delicate iron work seen throughout the Garden District. Along with the hotel branding, we also developed four restaurant identities within the hotel.
Why don't we work in city's other than Chicago? Well...all you have to do is ask.
Big Star has become a Chicago institution. Who doesn't like a $3 taco at 2 in the morning? Boxing posters inspired the typography.
Logo design is at the heart of the JNL studio. Our trust in typography has been honed by decades of study and practice.
A day doesn't go by without one of our logos passing us by on a bus, a billboard, a t-shirt or a tote. Our work is literally all-over-Chicago!
What's a country BBQ joint doing in Chicago's Little Italy? We love the vision of David Morton and Michael Kornick! They let us design the logo, the menu, the art on the wall, as well as paint the entire 2-story building outside!
This was a conceptual project undertaken with architect Iker Gil, that, despite the odds, actually came to full fruition.
An entire signing system was developed for the Oneida Tribe in Wisconsin based on their history of bending trees in a dense forest in order to point the way.
Our first major hotel project, we were involved from the very beginning. Logo design and all aspects of visual branding, from key card to shampoo bottles, came out of our studio. We created the art in the public areas and every piece of interior signage.
Seeing this logo scaling up the side of the building while standing at the corner of State and Lake is one of our proudest moments.
We were awarded the ad campaign that announced the arrival of TimeOut Chicago. The phrase THE WHERE TO GO WHAT TO DO WEEKLY became our central advertising concept. Using color and expressive typography, this campaign was seen on buses, CTA kiosks, and buildings throughout the city during the publication's launch.
This marketing brochure for domu.com utilizes the signature visuals of this apartment renting service. Our good friend Steve Liska designed the logo, which made our adverting job that much easier!
We created a series of limited-edition direct mail pieces for fashion icon and retail entrepreneur Ikram. We art directed the photo shoot and then collaged the "Ikram-red" rectangles in bizarre, asymmetrical compositions.
Color Jam! A project that blurred the line between art and advertising. Expanding the art work created by Jessica Stockholder, JNL extended the artist's signature motifs beyond the site of the art work itself.
